The breeze in my house today is amazing. The wind picks up speed as it crosses the golf course adjacent to the back of our property, and we are the full recipients; especially now that my dad built a custom-made screen for my kitchen window, which looks out over said golf course.

And with every breath of this breeze--bringing full relief to the rising temperatures and increasing humidity--comes a reminder:

For He knows our frame, it says. He remembers that we are dust.

He knows. And He has Provided. Just as He causes the breeze that the sun might not cause me to faint, so He renews my soul. All it takes is the moment in which the air lifts: the heat is lessened, the drought is ended. The sun shall not strike me by day.

It shall not.

  1. Hope you're doing well without Daniel there. I'm pumped to see you guys in Michigan. Well, I'm more excited to be married. But I'm so glad to finally see y'all again. I wish Gabriel and Bronwyn could be there, too, but that's a long way to come, I know.
Oh and I definitely can't wait for you guys to meet my bride.

  2. I hope all of the insanse house cleaning is slowing down and you can get some rest!

I almost laughed out loud on Saturday when I changed Joel's shirt and there were 4 bright red spots on his tummy... upon closer examination to the "pimples" on his face and back... they matched the tummy spots. Could it be??? Chickenpox???

I still can't tell... they're beginning to scab now, and he only ever had a total of 10-12 spots. Either way I've been stuck inside just in case. (Joe's been battling more rounds of shingles, so it's possible Joel picked it up from him.)

Who knows? We're just waiting to see if Seth breaks out in time for Joe's departure.

We had scheduled one of those insane weeks full of specialist appointments (the kind that take 2 hours on the phone to make... or cancel), a date night before Joe leaves, 4th of July plans, and on Sunday we're supposed to leave for vacation with my family.

I can be so grouchy when my plans get messed up! Hopfully weeks like this will teach me to be a little more patient and flexible as I imagine you've had to be the past week!

  4. I would love it if you can come over.  I will be around most of the week.  We are preparing for a garage sale on Friday, so if you come over I may be asking how much you would charge for various items!  Just come with your garage sale brain.
Lisa suggested all of us getting together.  THat would be crazy and fun!  My house is always available any time.  Also, my sister in laws are offering to watch kiddos if we want to go out.  Kate has Thursday off if we want to take her up on the offer.  Just let me know what sounds fun to you.
And it's fine that your plans are up in the air for tomorrow.  If you feel like coming over at all, that would be fine.  We'll be eating 5-5:30 if you want some hamburgers and hot dogs.  We'll also be doing sparklers around dark.  I know that we will have extra big people to supervise your little ones if you want to attempt something like that.  I look forward to seeing you some time this week.  I'm so glad that you can be out and about now!

  5. Thanks for telling me about Gabriel's idea.  That made me smile.  It is actually the same idea I had when Daniel told me about the head lice, but I was unable to make the necessary arrangements for a last minute trip to NY.  You and the children have been in my prayers.  You are doing a wonderful job of maintaining joy through a very trying time.  Keep it up!  I look forward to being with all of you in early August.
