Have I ever mentioned that I'm not a morning person?

Well, I'm not.

And, for some reason, young children/babies have absolutely no respect for this [very important] fact. It's not just that they wake up early. They need diapers changed and sippy cups filled and books read--all within the first 15 minutes of waking.

I'm so much not a morning person, I still don't like that sleeping in has been redefined for me as 7:30am. I can't even appreciate how disciplined this sounds.

Ugh.

  1. I thought I was a morning person until I had kids. They just get up so early. And there is just no on-ramp to their energy. They are either asleep or they are running circles around the living room.

Thanks for posting your schedules a few weeks ago. They were a real challenge for me - one I needed!

  3. What are you up to today?  (other than getting up early, that is!)  Do you want to come over at all.  Or, if you want to stay home but need some company, the kids and I can come over there too.  I'm planning on burritos for dinner if you're interested.  (you know, lots of cheese and not a lot of the other yummy stuff goes on Jocelyn's!)
Anyway, I would love to see you if you are looking for something to do.  (I won't even make you do garage sale stuff today!)

  4. Oh Brietta...  Go back to my site and read my entry on April 27th -you are SO not alone!  I cant imagine having 3 that are getting up early.  At least with Austin, he will play in his room or even put in a movie while we sleep.  Ashlyn is right with your 3...  I'M AWAKE!!!!!
Would you like to bring the kids to the playground here in Norwood sometime?  I would love to meet you and yours there if you do...  (Even just call as you are leaving since I am about 2 blocks away!)  My number is on the CFA directory list....

  5. Cassie would sleep 'till 10am if we let her (which I wish we could).  Seth usually gets up at 8am (if we let him).  And Grace stirs at 6:30am but will go back to sleep with just the right assistance- mainly if we ignore her or give her a bottle/paci.  However, with Sonny's work schedule, he's been getting them up at 5am and letting me sleep 'till he has to leave at 8:30am (his boss's suggestion for now... we're trying it out this week).  You know, it's REALLY nice to wake up and have the house already "going," eat my breakfast, and take over for snacktime!  And they all go to bed earlier!
What's Daniel's work schedule like?  Would he consider starting the day for you?  I totally relate though.  I HATE WAKING UP.  But once I'm awake, I'm the most productive for the next three hours.  So much so that I forget to eat.  Then I have screaming children all wondering where lunch is!

  6. I couldn't sympathize more... I used to think I was a morning person until I got married and realized my husband tends to wake up (literally) at the first sign of light!  Mornings are hard for me too!  And I must thank you too for posting your schedules and charts, I made my meal and work schedule based on the format you used... I found it so helpful!
    Be blessed, love

  7. Well, I'm not a morning person either.  I do get lucky sometimes, when Caedmon decides to sleep in until 9 or 9:30.  For me, 7:30 is early rising right now.  Hopefully, once Bethany starts sleeping through the night, I will become a little more (okay, a lot more) disciplined.  It is comforting to know I am not alone in this struggle, though :).

  8. I just talked to Mom about their trip up here.  Give me a call sometime or stop over and we can talk about how we want to work things and what we want to plan on. (they are leaving it pretty much up to us.)
    Enjoy Anne of Green Gables!

  9. One morning (about two years ago now) Eric had to literally yell and shake me to wake me up because both of our newborn twins (Emily & Bradley) were sreaming their heads off about, oh, say six inches from my head. When I finally opened my eyes and realized what I had been sleeping through- I decided that my being-a-morning-person days were over (at least temporarily). I think this story is funny. Eric doesn't.
