We had lots and lots of guests. (Which isn't hard to manage when you come from a family of nine.) Beyond those related by blood, our good friend/babysitter, our adopted-because-he-lives-with-my-family-brother, and a couple from church with a little boy who will turn 1 in March (he and Jack are nursery buddies) came. It's always fun to have a houseful!
Some pictures of our guests:
(if you know these guys, this picture won't alarm you. otherwise...)
one of our favorite families
the Papa arrived!
Nursery Pal
Younger Cousin
Gift-opening is always hilarious with kids! (It's tough to keep a 1-year-old on task.) While the first package did seem to somewhat pique his curiosity, he was far from an enthusiastic participant. But when he got it opened--boy!--was it a hit! The problem then was that we were hard-pressed to get him to give anything else a second glance! (Good job, Aunt Em! You picked a winner!)
from somewhat interested...
...to totally absorbed!
after some coaxing, willing to give this toy a chance...
...but letting big sister take over the enjoyment of the rest of the gifts...
...so Mom finally takes over
What do I do with this???
Uh, my hands are dirty...
Uncle Ry gives needed re-assurance
Tasty...
OK, I'm game!

It was a great evening. We are so blessed to have loving family and friends who will mark these milestones with us. And, even more, we are so blessed in Jackson. He is so, so precious.
I'm so glad I checked in before hitting the sack. It's almost as if I was there! (Well, not really, but the pictures sure are nice.)
ReplyDeleteBeen thinking of you all evening... Glad to hear you all had such a wonderful night!
...And I agree. What a precious little boy you have.
that is just precious. made me cry at the end. he 's beautiful, bri and oh so precious. thanks for sharing the pics. i like the tractor on the 2 yr old ticker. i smmiled when i saw jackson's bib...matthew has the same one-don't you love it? i was wondering if jack was eating any table food at all yet? i didn't bother to even make matthew a cake for his 1st b/c he wasn't bothering to eat any other kinds of food at all-at all! which contributed to some problems and a long yr for us, but thankfully, God is good!!!! :) happy birthday to your little boy. i don't surrender to toddlerhood for a long time...i think prob at least until they start completely walking on their own.
ReplyDeleteso on the previous post you linked me as one of the sisters going to the party. but i wasn't there, i was here.
ReplyDeletesometimes life kinda rots, ya know?
Great celebration of a precious boy! You guys fabulous parents. We are blessed.
ReplyDeleteI remember being at Bronwyn's 1st party and now I can't believe it's Jack's turn! I also remember that to be one of the last "big" functions at your old Wilmerding residence.... :(
ReplyDeleteOur children must have all of the same gifts! Just from pictures, I know that we share Baby Hannah, the walking toy in Jack's video, the piano, and the toolbench with hammer. And our collection will, I'm sure, increase in 2 short months. Our turn for a party I'm not ready for...just 2 more months I keep saying...
looks like fun=) I am really looking forward to celebrating garrett's first birthday- but it's hard to believe that it's almost that time already!! jacksons hair looks soooo red in the pics, when we saw him last i didn't think it was so obvious. he's adorable! question about one of the toys that he got- is it a toolbench? we've looked around for something with tools for garrett, he has a hammer but nothing else. let me know if it is what you think of it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on Jackson's first one year birthday! The pictures are adorable.. well most of them; that first one is a little sketchy :P
ReplyDeleteAwww! I can't believe how big they've gotten!!! Wow. Eric and I are so excited to see them in person this weekend. You and DP as well of course! What a wonderful birthday party!
