  3. Ooooooohhhhhhh!  I miss North Country autumn leaves!  We do not get leaves like that in our yard.  In fact, we don't even have to rake!  That can be a big blessing, but then it means no leaf piles for the Sundaramurthy children.   Boo hoo!
I just love that picture of Gabriel with his two hands full of leaves!

  8. Potty training... well, I guess that it's going fine considering that I'm not really even trying to do it!  Jocelyn just all on her own decided yesterday that she wanted to use her potty.  I've still been putting a diaper on her in between and it is still often wet, but she has been using it quite often.  I'm trying to decide if I should really push the issue or just wait a bit longer until she seems like she's holding it a bit better and not getting the diaper wet during the hour and a half that she doesn't go.  Any suggestions?

  10. I've been making soups without a recipe for awhile now, so its hard for me to get you one for potato soup. Here is the allrecipes.com search page for potato soup. I've made the chicken and potato soup, its very good.

I have a recipe typed out for a Chicken Corn Chowder that I made last week. There are potatos in it, and you could certainly take out the chicken. If you want me to email it to you, let me know.

  11. Great pictures!  I am glad to see that Matthew is not the only one to put leaves in his mouth.(actually, everything goes in his mouth)  When we go outside he won't play in the leaves; instead he wants to collect as many as he can carry.

  12. Great pictures! Because we got snow so early (or at least I am guessing that is why) our colors abruptly stopped and many of the trees are shedding their leaves while they are still green. It looks funny to me to see piles of green leaves everywhere. You leaves look more normal. Who knits? I really like the sweaters the kids are wearing.

  16. Bri -
I saw your request for a potato soup recipe. I do have a written out recipe card at home that I just got and am hoping to try. But in the meantime I can pass this on (I'm in Orlando so passing on what is in the memory is all I can do...)

Saute onions in butter (a good amount of onion as it will add great flavor) until translucent. Add chicken broth (water with chicken base or boullion) and quarterd potatos. When they are tender, mash them into the broth. Salt and pepper to taste, and voila -- soup! You can try adding some milk along with broth if you want more of a cream soup. You can add more broth if you like it thin or keep it pretty thick. You can really mash if you like it non-chunky or let chunks remain. You could also experiment with some rosemary or thyme added when sauteing the onion (sauteing the herbs brings out their flavor, so whenever I can I saute them with the veggies.)

As far as roasted chicken leftovers (and if you rub the skin with olive oil, salt the cavity and then put an onion and garlic cloves in the cavity when preparing to roast, your chicken will have great flavor) - you can always make lots of gravy first time around, make pot pie or chicken with biscuits the next day by adding lots of veggies and some diced potatoes, and then take the carcass and whatever meat is left and make chicken soup the third day. Do you remember some of our chicken soup recipes? Let me know!

Off to prepare for a conference. However, I just had to check in on my kiddles! Love you!

  17. The pictures are so sweet. I can't believe how long Bronwyn's hair has gotten since this past summer. Maybe I'll venture another trip to your little time sometime soon. Thanks for the email... it was GREATLY appreciated.

  18. Great pics! Yummy, crunchy leaves - maybe just add a pinch of salt for Jackson...
The thought "I bet Briette likes/would like Anne Bradstreet" popped into my head the other day when I was reading her poetry. Isn't that strange?

  19. They are so cute!  Gabriel really looks like Daniel, and he's getting so grown up looking!  I need to get Joy out in the leaves, it seems they fell all of a sudden, then they got wet...but I have to quit making excuses...Alan has had her out, but she likes to swing and slide with him.  We'll be going to Chambersburg at Thanksgiving, so I'll probably miss you guys?  Will you be staying longer than that weekend?  I really have to get some pictures taken of my crew, I want individual ones this year for Christmas I think.
