ReplyDeleteWe did use FIAR for the first half of Lael's Kindergarten year. I liked it pretty well. Even though it comes with a parent's guide I found that it involved a lot of planning. There are message boards on the FIAR website and one of the things I learned from there is to have a designated time for lesson planning - a good hour or two. The parent's guide was less than I was expecting. If you had a good routine of planning out lessons, it would be fine I suppose. I'm sure part of this was also my complete lack of understanding and experience with homeschooling. But being pregnant and having a busy toddler, it was a bit much for me. One of the other issues I had was waiting for books to come through ILL. I found myself stuck with no book a couple of times. Since my pregnancy with Lauren was rough towards the end, I wound up doing a lot with workbooks in the second half of the year. Lael loves workbooks, we were still reading on a regular basis and she was learning something. I kept telling myself, its only kindergarten. She survived.
LOVE the shot of those shoes!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying mom and us! Keep it going. I have shared it with others as well.
