Beginnings

Summer squash, bell peppers, tomatoes, basil, sage, and (hopefully, but rather unlikely due to our climate) rosemary. Oh-- and a whole lot of summer phlox, too, to be planted along the front of our porch once our tulips have come and gone!

  1. Do you know I had dreams all last night about starting plants?
In my dream I called my Green-Thumb Grandfather and asked him which seeds I should start first. He sighed and said, "OH, boy- let's see."
When I call him for real today I know that's just what he'll say.
    Happy Growing!

  3. Love your header!
I wish I had room to plant a garden but our postage-stamp sized lot is too small, not to mention overrun by rabbits and the neighbor dogs. But, on the bright side, I did join a CSA so I am excited about that. Now if we would only move so I could start my own someday...
    Happy gardening!

  4. Planting seeds is on our agenda for this weekend...but I don't think we will be as ambitious.  Just some tomatoes and cucumbers, and maybe zucchini.  Sadly, bell peppers have never fared too well in our garden.  We might try some herbs, too...dill and basil have worked in the past.  Plus we should have some onions and garlic and chives come up, too, since they grow every year.  I love gardening!  Though, in truth, I think I love the idea of it a bit more than the reality of it ;).

  5. I love all the little hands "helping" in the picture. How fun! And what a great family activity. It always was for us growing up too! Good luck and happy planting.

  7. Thank you so much for the nursing encouragement!  I've had such struggles in the past that I worry without reason probably I'm not 100% but I'm thankful for as good as I do feel!!  Wow, sick twice within a few months is not normal for me - but I'm convicted because I've totally stopped taking my vitamins.. just got out of routine I guess.  I have got to get back into the habit!!

  8. To me, the Bosch is a necessity in regular bread baking.  I grind the flour, then chuck everything into the Bosch.  While the Bosch is kneading I'm cleaning up.  I take the dough directly out of the mixer, into the pans, let them rise, and bake 'em.  No mess, no fuss, no work (except cleaning the mixing bowl, which is no biggie).  I wouldn't make bread if I didn't have the Bosch.  Making crackers, cookies, and cakes is more labor intensive than bread-baking with the Bosch.
