how much?

I recently stumbled upon this calculator to determine how much your babysitter should be paid based on a number of factors (location, number of children, babysitter's age & experience, etc.). I'm not entirely sure how correct it is, but I'm guessing it might at least give some ballpark figures, so I'm passing it along.

  1. Well,  that would be why we never get a sitter!  It would cost more than dinner out! And to think I took $5 an hour for 3 kids less than 10 years ago in a wealthy community!

  2. @High_Note - You know what's funny?   Up here, the calculated rate for my 4 children, with a babysitter over 22 who has 5+ years of experience, is $6/hour.  I guess there are some benefits to living in a rural area, even if we have to put up with no stores to shop at!

  3. Oh my. I calculated the rate with a babysitter 17-21 and with only my 3 kids and it was $12.50 an hour. Holy cow! I guess it's even more of a blessing that we have family willing to watch our kids for free!
