I have never sent a text message.
Ever.
In my whole life.
I don't really ever want to, but I know at some point I will probably have to.
My problem with texting is the way it has spawned abbreviating everything. For example:
how r u instead of How are you?
imo instead of In my opinion.
kwim instead of Do you know what I mean?
Or how about this one I just heard about the other day:
afaik instead of As far as I know.
It drives me
nuts.
I text a lot and 'imo' or 'kwim' or anything else like that... are foreign to me! I don't abbreviate phrases!!
ReplyDeleteI text my older two and spell out each and every word almost always. I tend to abbreviate late at night/early morning when I just have one question, Where R U? I also like to include proper punctuation and it drove me crazy when I couldn't figure out the symbols on my old phone.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Brietta!! I know exactly what you mean ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely weekend. Love, Q
Just use T9 mode. You can spell out words and it's pretty quick! (but then again, they will probably have a new mode by the time that you start texting... )
ReplyDelete@AHappyHousewife - It's not so much that I think I would resort to abbreviating, but that I might *gasp* get a text from someone else with abbreviations. And that would just annoy me soooo much!!!
ReplyDeletetexting is the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me.haha. =)
ReplyDeleteIkwym, IMHO I H8 tXting 2.;)I really am not a fan of texting and am glad are cell is in suspension mode!
ReplyDeleteI am with you 100%!! I have never texed and to NOT intend to. This may be far fetched considering we do live in a technological world. But until then I will remain old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to letter writing anyway? What a beautiful thing that never happens!
Amen, sister!
ReplyDeleteWell, I've also never sent a text message & have absolutely no plans to do so, but I do confess to using abbreviations like kwim and imo because they are often used on the online message boards that I frequent. So it's not only a text thing. But "how r u" gives me the heebie-jeebies!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of the texting abreviations either. The only one I use is lol (laugh out loud) and jk (just kidding). I think they're silly and just one more way our world is becoming lazy.
ReplyDeleteI love texting....it's cheaper(.3 of a minute) and people can send me a quick note that I would get before an email since I always have my phone but don't always get on the computer. Plus I have been getting free redbox rentals from getting text messages from them. I even have a different sound on my phone when I get a text so I know it's not a call....
