Misc::

:: Aubrey likes to blow raspberries on my belly, which is both funny and obnoxious (I hate having my belly button touched). She also thinks the terms "belly" and "baby" are interchangeable. If she points to your belly and says, "Baby," please don't be offended or assume she thinks you need to work on your ab muscles; she really just doesn't understand.

:: I am still very tired and some days it's downright discouraging. This morning I woke up and wondered how I could keep going. God is faithful, though, and inevitably I realize an hour or two later that not only am I still going, but He is giving me the grace to be productive and cheerful as I go.

:: Last night Daniel kept waking us both up because he was hot. This was a first for the summer. At one point, he stood up, yanked the blanket and comforter completely off the bed, and said, "Why on earth is all of this on the bed in July?!?!" I laughed and reminded him that we were both using the blankets just the night before, when it was a frigid 45* or so.

:: We started a cell group for young families last week and will have our second meeting tonight. I'm really looking forward to hearing what the "older" parents who will be sharing with us have to say. I also just love getting together with other people.

:: I have frozen strawberries and blueberries in my freezer that need to be made into jam. Does anyone want to motivate me?

:: If this baby is a girl, she will almost definitely be Claire. But I'm still hung up on middle names. I'd prefer something that's more than 2 syllables in order to not get stuck in a rut (the other kids all have 2 syllable middle names), but I'm not interested in the obvious choice: Elizabeth. And then, what if the baby's a boy? I finally looked all the way through the baby name book the other night hoping for inspiration.

Nothing.

  1. I have so many things to say:
Last night was the first night that we got our room air conditioner out of the attic to use. Yep, the FIRST time. How crazy is that??? Normally it would have been running every night for weeks.
I LOVE the name Claire. I also love Clara too. Before I finished reading the post, in my head, I was like Elizabeth is more than 2 and goes so well! I purposed to make sure Kylie's middle name was not one syllable b/c I didn't want an Ada Rose and a Kylie Mae. Two names in a row with the same amount of syllables. That's one of the reasons Kylie is Kylie Madison. I like my kids first names to be two syllables though. Erin, Maygen, Ada, Kylie....but the middle name I like to change it up (You know b/c I'm so crazy...hmmm...Tim would say crazy but not how I meant it. )
I find picking girls names much more tricky than boys. Or could it be I've really not had to actually pick a boys name...

  4. SOOO in love with the name Claire. I'm stumped as of a middle name for that one though. We almost named Bennett 'Carter', so there is an idea for you! And if he was a girl... it would have been EmmaLee (but that doesn't help you much!)
I'm loving your young family small group idea. Wish we lived closer. :)

  9. @michelleross - @mom2mkei_2 - I agree that Claire Elizabeth definitely sounds great together.  But for some reason, it's just not "right" to me!@Newshoundfortruth - Not a bit offended!  The problem is that she thinks they're interchangeable with everyone now!!!

  10. How about Magdalene? I think that is a pretty middle name. Or Evangeline. I think there are a lot of longer choices out there! And Claire is so pretty!

  11. How about Claire Alexis.
We knew a baby Claire Alexis and she was one strong baby girl!

  12. @springtimeindiana - Evangeline is one of the names on the list!  I hadn't thought of Magdalene, though. Very pretty!  Adelaide, Alethea, Elena, etc. are also possibilities I'm kicking around to see what grows on me...

  13. Claire is one of my all-time favorites.
In fact, now I'm wondering...is there anyone who doesn't love the name Claire?
Sooooo pretty and feminine and FWENCH!
    Have a blast tonight.
    Hilarious about Aubrey blowing raspberries.
I have a list of twenty FABULOUS boy names...I'll e-mail them.

  14. Should Abram been a girl, it was a toss up between Clara Noelle and Novella Cherie. Clara is a family name on both sides and I really would like to pass the name on. Novella is Matt's grandma's name and he REALLY wants a Novella. Cherie is my middle name. Samuel would have been Novella Claire. So, you could always do a swap, Claire Novella. I am not sure how into uncommon names you are, but Novella is up there! I really love old classic names like Evelyn and Eleanore. I like some Southern classics too like Adeline. I may be the only one, but I love Guinevere! I keep pushing for it but everyone seems to give me a look, and it ain't a pretty one! Whatever the name, it will be perfect. Ohh, the anticipation of another sweet one. I could talk names for hours. Keep the ideas coming! I just found out that a friend is going to name their new one Iris, if she is a girl. I am grinning. I love it!

  15. I heard a great middle name the other day - Nicolette - a diminuative form of Nicole, meaning "victory of the people."

    Mrs. Sachs

  16. I've always liked Claire and you have so many great suggestions for middle names.  How fun to get so many great ideas so easily.  I am praying for your energy level and that the ultrasound will confirm that this child is healthy and growing well.  Is it still scheduled for Monday?

  17. @phyllispaladin - Yes, Monday at 11am.

  19. I just love coming back to this post so I can read all the name options! Aren't name so fun?! There are some great options on the table! Can't wait to hear what you and Daniel decide. Any boy names yet?

  20. Claire Louise is very pretty (personal opinion)...even though we already have a Claire Louise (Kinnen) in CFC, I'm sure she wouldn't mind if their was another one!

  21. @MrsNelsonAndMamma2 - Not really much happening on the boy name front.  I've always like Cale, but Daniel isn't totally sold.  Once I get something more concrete there, I'm sure I'll be blabbering on about it like I've blabbered about Claire!   I, too, get so caught up in the "naming game."  It's such a fun and awesome and major privilege!

  22. Some friends of ours at our old church in MO had a Kali and a Kale (spelled with a "K"). You must be on a one syllable, "c" kick! Lovin' it!

  23. @MrsNelsonAndMamma2 - Well, see, that's part of my dilemma:  whichever name I used, I wouldn't then use the other-- probably ever.  I'm not sure how many more kiddos we'll have, at which point I'm not sure I want to use Cale (since I don't love it quite as much as I love Claire) and then wish later on that I could name a daughter Claire, if that makes sense.Which brings us back to square 1 for a boy name... *sigh*

  24. @brietta - I find myself in constant name dilemma. Matthew thinks I'm nuts. Good thing all babies get a name eventually! I am so trying to predict if there is a little missy inside or another handsome boy...
