I have craved apples with peanut butter so intensely this pregnancy. Even when I couldn't keep much food down, I very happily crunched on my apples-- and they settled much more nicely when some peanut butter had been smeared on them.
Alas, only a few short days into the onset of this craving, the only kind of peanut butter I eat (I'm really not a peanut butter fan, to be honest) ran into some big problems.
Combine peanut butter I don't like (sorry all you Jiff fans) with apples that aren't quite as crisp as the autumn Cortlands I dream of, and you've got one sorely disappointed pregnant lady.
But I'll get over it.
It just means I'll eat more ice cream.
When I was pregnant with Larry, I LOVED apples with peanut butter! Still do, but I don't crave them so much now.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Williamsburg with my mom, Emilie, and Natalie (Mariah too of course). We've never done anything like this and I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteApples and PB are definitely a much healthier pregnancy craving than ice cream--but I just can't get over the ice cream thing! (I actually have slowed down quite a bit on the ice cream since Mariah was born and I got over the Reese's thing by the June before I had her. Not that I don't like it-just not enough to eat it every day!)
My other craving, chinese veggies w/ rice was at least somewhat healthy (our local place uses no msg-but all that sesame oil!)
Hmm.. That actually sounds good right now! I do like peanut butter but have been just short of having the craving for it satisfied by the "other" brands. I am with you -a Peter Pan eater through and through. Still frustrated about that one!
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny, cause my #1 pregnancy stand-by was the same thing! Though my apples were Grannys and my PB is only ever Smucker's all-natural. I sometimes eat it right out of the jar...
ReplyDeleteice cream is good:)
ReplyDeleteI craved apples and pb too. Although, I really craved pb by itself also. I would just eat it by the spoonful! I do love Jif so the recent events had no effect on my WIC pb buying:)
ReplyDeletemmmm... sounds good to me!
ReplyDeletei like apples and peanut butter. i'm not pregnant, though...
ReplyDeleteon a more serious note, thanks for you comment. it was very, very good.
Do you like Gala apples? I craved those...I never liked Peter Pan. The Aldi's peanut butter is good, but since I like Jif it might be like that...
ReplyDeletethats funny. i'm not a big peanut butter fan either. i have to be in the mood for it in order to eat it
ReplyDeleteDid you have the ultrasound yet? Let us know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteHmm. I never tasted the difference between Peter Pan, Jif, or Skippy. Now I will have to do a taste test. I buy all three.
ReplyDeleteThe Granny Smith apples are very good and crunchy right now. P&C. $2.99.
; )
I know what you mean -time has been flying by (and this is one time I am thanking God for that happening). Can you believe that you are already almost out of the first trimester!? I am almost 1/2 way through -though I will admit right now, that seems like an eternity!
ReplyDeleteHi Brietta. I'm glad to know that you'll "just eat more ice cream." That's how my pregnancies are - eat, eat, eat. :) Mmm...I love apples and peanut butter - with melted chocolate chips mixed in.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the ultrasound picture. I pray for God's grace and strength as you mother AND grow a baby.
